Celebrate 100years of our nation in County Offaly

Centenary concert

We invite you, your family and your neighbours, your friends and your colleagues to remember reflect and to celebrate 100 years of our nation in Offaly.

In this centenary year, this is our opportunity for all citizens of Offaly to come together to remember those Offaly men who fought for Irish Independence.

COMMEMORATION

Together we remember their contribution by the raising of the Irish Flag, laying a wreath and the reading of the Proclamation. A lone piper will lead us in a candlelit walk to Colmcille St, to the scene where on March 20th 1916, an incident led to Padraig  Pearse saying “A great deed was done last night in Tullamore..”. The unveiling of a new flagstone to mark this location will take place, before the piper leads us onto the Church of the Assumption.

CONCERT

Headlined by Mundy & Donal Lunny, with Simon Casey, Sean Ryan, Olivia Burke, Karen Martin, Diarmuid Guinan, Joe Maher, Danna Davis, Gerard Gillen and a host of choirs and bands such as Ruaile Buaile, St. Colmcille’s Pipe Band, Tullamore Town Band, St. Manchan’s Youth Choir, Edenderry Rockers, Offaly Comhaltas, Eden Chorale, Birr Choral Society and Offaly County Council Choir, over 150 musicians will raise the roof with some iconic pieces of Irish music. Punctuated by spoken word and directed by Colin Hughes, this once in a centenary event is not to be missed.
