Eamon Dooley has informed us of the following:
Works have commenced on the widening of footpaths and fitting of new kerbs in the town, in preparation for the surfacing of a 3 Kilometre stretch on the N62 from Noggus Bridge to Ballyvora.
The work will include traffic calming measures at Ballyvora and the installation of extra lights.
A new cycle lane will be developed from Gallen View to Gallen Community School. The long term plan is to link this cycle path to the Grand Canal at Gallen.
The pedestrian crossing at Centra is being considered for improvement works and the possibility of a new Bus Stop is also under consideration.
The footpaths at Hineys and Hamills will be increased in width, in order to give a better view when approaching the Main Street from Church Street.
Next year we hope to have Ferbane included for a number of projects under the Town and Village Renewal Scheme.
Ciaran Lynch, Tippeary Institute, together with Offaly Local Development Company, is at present preparing a five year community action plan for the town. This plan will form the basis for the application for the Town and Village Renewal Scheme.
